A nature-friendly keyboard that is made up of wood equipped with a Bluetooth 3.0 for wireless connectivity. Of course this wireless keyboard is not 100% wood as you might have guessed. This wooden keyboard was designed by a French entrepreneur that goes by the name of Julien Salanave.
By enlisting the help of a small team of designers in southern France, they work together to carve the Orée keyboard from a sheet of wood. After sculpting the keys and the outer shell from a single sheet of wood, they polished it, oil-rubbed and assembled manually by hand in their workshop. But can this be of help to nature by reducing non-biodegradable waste that is brought by keyboards made of plastic?
According to the product website “Orée was born from our observation that modern technology products look very much alike, are highly impersonal, made out of eco-unfriendly materials and are designed for rapid obsolescence.”
From their website you can choose the country layout (US QWERTY, UK QWERTY etc), keyboard layout (Mac, Windows), keyboard font (Fedra, Mrs Eaves, Didot) and personalized it by putting your name on it or other personalized labels (company name etc.) that you can think of in 30 characters maximum.
The Orée wireless keyboard is available in shades of maple and walnut. The Orée wireless keyboard is powered by a single pair of AAA batteries that could last up to several months because of the low-power Bluetooth 3.0 technology according to the website.
Bearing a tag price of 125 euros each, they can ship the Orée keyboard atleast 3 weeks to EU countries and to North America. Shipping cost is 25 euros for each keyboard. If you lived from another country, you can get in touch with the Orée guys by sending an email to email@example.com.
