This is just another testament to the fact that touchscreen displays cannot replace the pleasure of playing games using analog controls found on PlayStation Portables, PSVita and PS2/PS3 controllers. I already did mention (in my iPad 2 game review of Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy) that playing games on touchscreen devices inflict a lot of strain on your fingers much faster compared to analog controllers. To solve this problem, game developers created a simple tool to attach a PS3 controller to your Android phone allowing you to play Android games PSVita style. Sounds real fun huh?
Introducing GameKlip for Android phone. A simple plastic mount made out of strong ABS plastic material designed by Ryan French that allows you to attach a PS3 controller to your Android phone. The idea sprouted after Ryan’s encounter with the Sixaxis app paired with a Sony Dualshock 3 controller. Though this combination allows many Android phones to connect to a PS3, Ryan feels that there’s something missing that will hold your Android phone together with the PS3 controller.

It should be made clear that the GameKlip only mounts your Android phone on a PS3 controller. To connect the Android phone to a controller you have two options, wired or wireless. However these options depends if your Android phone supports such connections.
For example, Samsung Galaxy S3 (all variants) was found to support the wired connection to a Dualshock3 controller without installing anything and without rooting your phone. So better check if your Android phone supports connecting to this kind of controller before purchasing the wired version of GameKlip. Currently the wired version supports the latest Galaxy phones and a few recent HTC models.
If your phone supports wireless connection with a PS3 controller you have to root your Android phone and install the Sixaxis Controller from Google Play store. But you should check first if your Android phone is compatible with this app by using the Sixaxis Compatibility Checker.
For iPhone fans out there who want a similar solution, you can check my previous post about a gamepad attachment similar to this. I think that this is better compared to the GameKlip + Sixaxis combo or the wired GameKlip solution. The only flaw is that this gamepad solution is currently exclusive only to iPhone owners.
