You might want to have Flash support on your Android 4.1 Jeally Bean devices so that you can view interactive websites and watch online videos as well. Unfortunately Adobe already dropped Flash support to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices as well as the Nexus 7. But don’t you worry, the very reason that you’re reading this post is that there’s an existing solution to this problem. Can you guess our heroes for this one? Yep, you’re right. XDA gurus did it again. Our heroes this time were XDA member sempox and Censura_Umbra. These XDA guys provided us the means to install Flash player on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean devices.
Actually there are two methods of installing Flash on your Jeally Bean powered device. If you have a non-Nexus 7 device that runs on Android 4.1 you can simply copy the Flash Player APK file on your device’s SD card and install it using a File manager of your choice.
Otherwise, if you have a Nexus 7 tablet and you wish to install Flash Player you have to root it first by reading my Google Nexus 7 root guide. After getting root access you can now follow the same instructions used in installing Flash Player APK on non-Nexus 7 devices after installing the stock Browser.
For detailed instructions, please read the step-by-step guide below.
For non-Nexus 7 devices (by sempox)
Step 1. Download Flash Player APK (version 11.1.115.12)
Step 2. Copy your files to the SD card of your Android device. (Be it tablet or smartphone, it makes no difference)
Step 3. Install it using any File Manager (ES file explorer)
Step 4. Start the Browser
Step 5. Go into the Browser settings and uncheck the option of Flash Player (on demand or always on at your discretion)
Step 6. Enjoy latest version of Flash also Android!
For Rooted-Nexus 7 ONLY (by Censura_Umbra)
Step 1. Download the stock Browser from AOSP Jelly Bean Nexus S ROM
Step 2. Place the app in your /system/app folder, change the permissions from rw——- to rw-r–r–
Important: If you see a browser provider.apk and browser provider.odex You need to rename them. You can simply throw in a 1 after the file extensions.
Step 3. Follow all the steps from the above instructions (steps 1-3) for non-Nexus 7 devices to install Adobe Flash Player.
Step 4. Enjoy Flash on your Nexus 7
