Still craving to have Jelly Bean ported on your old Android smartphone? Unfortunately only Ice Cream Sandwich Android users can upgrade directly to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. So there’s a very slim chance that older Android devices can enjoy the newest Android operating system. But if you really want a piece of Jelly Bean on your phone, you can try and install Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Lock Screen on your Android phone. This lock screen if combined with the Jelly Bean TouchWiz launcher (ICS only) in my recent post will breathe in new life to your old Android phone.
Holo Locker, the Jelly Bean lock screen look-alike that was developed by Mobint Software aims to provide all Android users a “simple and fast lock screen replacement”. Though it’s not the real Jelly Bean lock screen found on Samsung Galaxy S III, it looks and works exactly like the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean lock screen. That is, you get the same good looking dots that follow your finger.
Currently Holo Locker has limited personalization features as of this moment. According to the developer all that you can do for now is to enable Emergency Unlock to unlock your Android smartphone by pressing Back + Volume Down, disable the home button and the capability to hide the status bar. The capability to disable the home button was provided because pressing the Home button exits the lock screen and takes you straight to the home screen.
The developer promises that there are plenty of useful features to come so there’s something to look forward to with Holo Locker. By the way Mobint Software created its own launcher (Holo Launcher) and can be paired with Holo Locker providing you the best UI experience. The locker and launcher app works on all Android smartphone running Android 2.2 and above and you can download them for free at the Google Play Store.
