Haven’t seen the movie yet? Well, you’re in the same boat as I am. But luckily I have already taken a bite of the The Dark Knight Rises experience by downloading this iPhone app on my iPad 2. This iPhone app as described by its developers immerses fans into the world of Gotham City. Using a combination of audio technologies and Hans Zimmer’s amazing score this free app will surely blow your mind. Why? Because after plugging your headphones to your ears you will feel like you’re living inside the world of The Dark Knight Rises. Imagining Batman fighting with Tom Hardy as Bane in this iPhone app?
The iPhone app that was dubbed as ‘The Dark Knight Rises Z+’ works by utilizing different ‘variables’ like background noise, body movements, time of the day etc. After putting your headphones and starting the app, what you hear and how you hear it was affected and enhance by these ‘variables’ and combined with Hans Zimmer’s musical score. It was like listening to a dynamic ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ soundtrack that automatically adjusts itself to your surroundings.
In AutoPilot mode the app automatically adjusts the soundtrack based on the ‘variables’ we described previously. You will notice that what you hear in a quiet place is different from what you hear in an area with more background noise. The app also utilizes the sounds and voices near you to enhance your listening experience.
“The app uses vowel formant shaping on the microphone input in realtime which makes the world around you chant like the music in the movie. The chant has a very important place in the movie and when you now listen to the soundtrack the whole world around you chants. Additionally this iPhone app also contains the audio recordings of Hans Zimmer and the director of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ movie Christopher Nolan discussing the process of recording the film. These recordings will serve as a bonus to the Batman fans giving them a sort of commentary that will provide them extra information about the movie.
This could be the perfect app while waiting outside the movie house by pre-immersing yourself in the world of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. What do you think? Unfortunately I couldn’t find an Android version for this app. Maybe we can ask Micheal Breidenbruecker to make an Android version of this app. Is that possible Michael? I can already hear the sentiments coming from the Android fans out there.
