In case you’re seeing a big banner of advertisement on your Facebook profile page, it’s probably adware. To be clear this is not an attempt from Facebook HQ to widen its reach and make more money from Facebook Ads. According to Mashable the banner can be seen at the center of your profile page that approximately measures 730 x 90 pixels if viewed on a 24 inches display screen. The huge odd-looking advertisement was first noticed by a Mashable staff on her friend’s Facebook profile page.
Luckily Facebook already knows about this and provided us a wealth of information about Adware appearing on our profile page that can be found on their official help pages about adware. In a statement from Facebook, we can easily determine if the advertisement is from an adware if the banner appears anywhere on a Facebook web pages except from the right column.
Go on check your Facebook profile page and see if you have an adware lurking on your computer. If you find one, Facebook also provided us the step-by-step instructions to remove those adware from your profile page.
Though this might not be of interest to you, Facebook highly suggests that you remove those adware because it will likely make loading Facebook pages slowly or worst it could lead to your Facebook account being compromised.
