The technique of taking multiple pictures automatically a.k.a burst image shot or simply “burst shot” allows you to choose the best pic from the captured images. It is commonly used by professional photographers in capturing live sporting events and face shot. And since phone cameras are now commonly used as an alternative in capturing images, it is undeniable that this feature is a must-have. This Android app can also help people to learn digital photography using their smartphone.

Though the “burst shot” image capturing feature can now be found on smartphones, it was only accessible to users that own newer or recently released Android quad-core smartphone like the HTC and Samsung mobile phones. Apple fans, on the other hand have their own app for this that is called the “Burst Mode” that can be download via iTunes from the Apple Store.

For every Android phone that do not have this feature you can still “burst shot” on your smartphone by installing this app from the Google Play Store. Fast Burst Camera is a high-speed camera application developed by Spritefish that will give your Android phones the capability to take 30 photos per second. If you have a low-end device you will be probably limited from 5-10 photos per second. According to the developer this app can even surpass the native burst shot feature of some devices.

Burst Shot a.k.a Burst Camera mode

After installing and launching the app just hold the shoot button for continuous burst shot or you can alternatively tap it for fast single shots. The Fast Burst Camera can be downloaded either for free or by buying the pro version that costs $4. With the pro version, the Android user can have access to some additional features like auto-focus and lighting settings.

Are you willing to give it a try? I already downloaded this app for my wife’s Samsung Wave (GT-S5360) and I already find it useful. I can now take pictures of my son that always try to hide from me whenever I try to take pictures of him. I’ll just pick the best picture from the batch of images and delete the rest. By the way because of the high-speed nature of this app please take note that captured photos in burst shot mode will (probably) not in the highest resolution possible.
