[How To] Backup your iPhone’s Unlock Activation Ticket with RedSn0w

This post is actually a continuation of the [How To] Unlock your iPhone 5.x Using SAM Cydia Package tutorial. If you already unlock your iPhone using the SAM Cydia package, then you should be backing up the unlock activation of your iPhone. Why? Because Apple team is currently fixing their activation servers that will render the SAM unlock method ineffective in the future.

Preserving the unlock activation ticket was suggested by iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd. To make it easy for us, the team has also provided the easiest way possible by using the latest version of RedSn0w.

Haven’t unlock your iPhone yet? Check this tutorial and free your iPhone from the clutches of your mobile carrier. Again your iPhone must be jailbroken first before proceeding with the unlock method. To make a backup of the unlock activation ticket, proceed with the instructions below.

Requirement:

• Latest version of RedSn0w

To Do:

1. Open RedSn0w 0.9.10b8 and click Extras > Even more > Backup
2. Leave the default directory in the “Please a path to backup” field, and click Ok.
3. RedSn0w will save off a timestamped zip file of your /var/root/Library/Lockdown directory to the same location where RedSn0w is installed on your computer.

As a bonus here’s a video on the steps involve in backing up the unlock activation ticket. Remember that the main goal here is to copy the ticket somewhere else. It means that you can choose where you want the unlock activation ticket to be save.
