It’s cool to have emoticons when you’re chatting with your friends. You can easily express your feelings and minimize typing by using emoticons. Usually, emoticons are integrated in social networking app that is pre-installed in smartphones. In desktop systems, this could be the first tool that would allow you to use emoticons in your Facebook chat. If you know of a tool similar to this, you can share it with the rest of us by posting it as a comment below. By using this tool you can now chat with your Facebook friends with ease and style.
Emoticons in Pretty Facebook Chat
Pretty Facebook Chat is a Chrome extension, so if you’re a fan of another browser you might consider installing Chrome in parallel with your favorite browser. After installing the extension, you will have more control on the chat window itself. With this tool, you can change the font size, window size, add shadows, animations and an emoticon window. You will see a red chat icon located at the right portion of the URL bar and at the lower right next to the chat window. Just click this red icon to turn Pretty Facebook Chat on and off. To use it for the first time though, you have to share it with your Facebook friend first.
To change the settings like shadow, size of the chat window and font click the red icon located at the URL bar beside the chat window. To use the emoticons, just launch a chat session with a friend and you will see a ‘smiley’ icon beside the video calling icon. Just click this icon and you will be presented with many emoticons, symbols and some popular cartoon character.
The set of usable cartoon character includes Spongebob, Homer Simpson, Puss, Shrek, Picachu etc. Check it out and have fun chatting with your friends. Have a nice day!
Update: 2012-08-01 If you don’t want to install any browser extension and preferred to do it manually, I created a list of shortcodes that you can use to display Facebook emoticons in your chat window.
