This is good news to all the bloggers out there that is using WordPress as their platform. WordPress.com finally announced in their blog that they will now offer bloggers an alternative to earn extra money online from their posts. This will give bloggers to earn not just from Google Adsense but from WordAds as well. According to Jon Burke (WordPress ads lead) this was previously requested a long time ago by bloggers but they resisted. Jon Burke said “we’ve resisted advertising so far because most of it we had seen wasn’t terribly tasteful, and it seemed like Google’s AdSense was the state-of-the-art, which was sad.”
But things changed when WordPress.com has finally made an agreement with Federated Media to become the source of high-quality adverts. “You pour a lot of time and effort into your blog and you deserve better than AdSense” Jon Burke added. Federated Media was founded by John Battelle and currently sells ads for BoingBoing and Apple Insider. As of now there are no other details that would distinguish the difference between WordAds and Google AdSense. But if you want to join WordAds none the less, you should fill out an online form that will also give you a hint.
For those bloggers who want to sign up for a custom domain to qualify, you should visit the WordPress page here. Take note that WordPress will filter blogs based on amount of traffic, type of content and language so expect that some blogs may be chosen and some may not. Good luck to us all.
